California Online Privacy Protection Act
The California Online Privacy Protection Act (“CalOPPA”) is the first state law in the nation to require commercial websites and online services to post a privacy policy. The law applies beyond California and requires that a person or company in the United States (and conceivably the world) that operates websites collecting PII from California consumers post and comply with a conspicuous privacy policy on its website stating exactly the information being collected and those individuals with whom it is being shared. See more at: http://consumercal.org/california-online-privacy-protection-act-caloppa/#sthash.0FdRbT51.dpuf
While we do not actively engage with consumers in California, in order to comply with CalOPPA we agree that:
Users can visit the Site anonymously;
The Privacy Policy will be linked to our home page or on the first significant page after entering the Site;
The Privacy Policy link includes the word “privacy”, and can be easily be found on the page specified above;
Users will be notified of any changes to the Privacy Policy on the Privacy Policy page; and
Users are able to change their personal information by contacting us as set forth below.
Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act
The Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (“COPPA”) imposes certain requirements on operators of websites or online services directed to children under 13 years of age, and on operators of other websites or online services that have actual knowledge that they are collecting personal information online from a child under 13 years of age. The Federal Trade Commission, the nation’s consumer protection agency, enforces COPPA. We do not specifically market to children under 13 years of age.
California Consumer Privacy Act
If you are a California resident, please note that we are exempt from the provisions of the California Consumer Private Act (“CaCPA”) given our low volume of customers and business in California.
Fair Information Practice Principles
The Fair Information Practice Principles form the backbone of privacy law in the United States and their concepts have played a significant role in the development of data protection laws around the world. Understanding the Fair Information Practice Principles and how they should be implemented is critical to comply with the various privacy laws that protect personal information.
In order to be in line with Fair Information Practice Principles we will notify users of the Site within seven (7) business days should a data breach occur.
We also agree to the individual redress principle, which requires that individuals have a right to pursue legally enforceable rights against data collectors and processors who fail to adhere to the law. This principle requires not only that individuals have enforceable rights against data users, but also that individuals have recourse to courts or a government agency to investigate and/or prosecute non-compliance by data processors.
